Why we built it
Before an early trip, working guides routinely move between tide tables, observed water levels, weather forecasts, swell guidance, wind maps, radar, water-temperature reports, and fishing regulations. Outgoing Tide was created to reduce that tab-switching and make the morning planning process easier to read.
The default view starts on our home waters around St. Augustine and the Matanzas River. Station search extends the experience to NOAA coastal stations across the United States.
What Outgoing Tide brings together
- NOAA tide predictions, preliminary water levels, and water-temperature observations.
- Current conditions, hourly weather, seven-day forecasts, swell, and wind guidance.
- Radar and interactive wind maps for a wider view of approaching conditions.
- Calculated solunar periods, moon phases, species temperature windows, and regulation references.
Every source has different limits. Outgoing Tide labels the source and context so anglers can distinguish predictions, preliminary observations, model guidance, calculated periods, and static guide references. The full breakdown is available on the data sources and methodology page.
Experience, transparency, and trust
The service is shaped by first-hand experience on northeast Florida water. That experience guides how information is grouped and explained; it does not replace official navigation, weather, safety, or fishing-regulation sources.
Conditions can change quickly and online data can be delayed or unavailable. Anglers remain responsible for checking official alerts, local hazards, vessel readiness, and current regulations before leaving the dock.
Responsible fishing
Healthy marshes, estuaries, reefs, fisheries habitat, and public access are the foundation of a lasting fishing community. Our coastal conservation directory connects anglers with official programs working on those resources in every U.S. coastal state.
